- Cashierless Store – Bank ING, supermarket chain Albert Heijn, and fintech company AiFi will trial cashierless concept store in Zaandam, Netherlands from September to October 2019
- How It Works – Scans debit or credit card upon entry, uses computer vision and sensors to identify items taken off shelf, automatically computes transactions up to $28 (€25), and gives shopper notification of purchase upon exit or checkout
- Accessibility – Does not require new account registration or mobile app download to shop in store
- Privacy – No facial recognition is conducted, with technology only registering shape and arm movements
- Future Plans – After testing, store will move to another location in Netherlands within 2019, and may operate like pop-up store that will be placed temporarily in offices, college campuses, and residential sites that do not have shopping centers
