Note: Data based on National Public Radio (NPR) and Edison Research’s Smart Audio Report 2018, which surveyed 1,010 people via telephone and 806 people online, all of which are aged 18 and above and own smart speakers
Proof Point Findings:
  • Smart Speaker – Stand-alone, Internet-connected speaker that can run tasks, such as streaming music, setting reminders, ordering products, and controlling other connected-home devices, using artificial intelligence and voice commands
  • Household Goods – Majority of respondents have used smart speakers to place orders for household supplies (58%) and electronics (51%)
  • Health and Beauty – Almost half (48%) purchased health and beauty products
  • Key Growth Drivers – Include increasing consumer adoption of AI-enabled home devices, intensifying competition among big tech companies, improving network connectivity, and rapidly expanding artificial intelligence capabilities
