  • Mixed Reality Program – U.S. Army collaborated with researchers from Institute for Creative Technologies at University of Southern California to develop mixed reality program called Synthetic Collective Operational Prototyping Environment (SCOPE) that will train tank commanders in simulated 3D environment
  • Features – Include sensors that track eye movement and body position, multi-player engagement and communication, joystick, 3D printed control box, and artificial intelligence software
  • Training – SCOPE will help tank commanders practice combat situations for more efficient cognitive processing of information and decision making
  • Testing – Early version of SCOPE, called Team Assessment and Learner Knowledge Observational Network (TALK-ON), underwent three testing rotations at Fort Benning that led to positive results
  • Timing – Project still in early phases with formal testing to start in 2020
