- Insufficient Work – Six in ten surveyed by Intuit chose not enough work (62%) as top challenge of on-demand economy workers, with 31% also highlighting growing number of workers providing same service and 27% mentioning lack of job security
- Lack of Stable Income/Benefits – Unpredictable income (53%), unfair pay (41%), and lack of benefits, such as health insurance, (21%) cited as other challenges when working in on-demand economy
- Key Growth Drivers – Include proliferation of cloud-based freelance platforms and crowd-based apps, increasing dependence of companies on external staff, and intangible freelancing benefits, such as time and location flexibility, as well as work variety
