- Autonomous Grocery Deliveries – Self-driving vehicle startup Udelv partnering with local grocery stores Uptown Grocery, Buy For Less, Buy For Less Super Mercado, and Smart Saver to offer autonomous grocery deliveries in Oklahoma City in 2019
- How It Works – Customers order groceries through smartphone app and then receive unique access code for opening designated compartment in autonomous vehicle
- Operational Fleet – First vehicle, a modified electric truck with estimated range of 60 miles and can make 40 deliveries before needing to recharge, will be delivered in 2019 Q1, with ten more vans to follow by end of 2019
- Human-Assisted Operation – Though vehicles are capable of Level 4 autonomy, program will have safety drivers and crew of remote operators in the beginning pending regulatory approval for full autonomous deliveries
- Initial Testing – Made more than 700 deliveries in California since January 2018
- Other Potential Partners – Could include pharmacies and other local merchants in future
