  • New Drone Rules – Canada published new rules governing drone flights for drones between 250 grams and 25 kilograms in country, with most changes taking effect on June 1, 2019
  • Drone Operator – Should be at least 14 years of age, Canadian citizen or resident, and passed exam to obtain basic drone pilot certificate
  • Within Sight – Drone operators must fly drones within sight, fly under 400 feet, and away from airports, events or emergency situations, unless authorized by special certificate
  • No Drinking – Does not allow drinking within 12 hours of drone flight, or use drugs that can impair flying skills
  • Advanced Certificate – Operators must be at least 16 years old, passed exam and flight review to fly near airports
  • Penalties – Violation of rules can cost penalties up to CAD $3,000 and up to CAD $15,000 for businesses
