- Alexa-Enabled BMW Cars – BMW working with Amazon to integrate Alexa capabilities into selected BMW and MINI cars, enabling users to access infotainment features, as well as other third-party apps, through voice commands
- Supported Commands – Allows users to get directions, play music, control connected home devices, and check news, as well as access other third-party apps, such as Starbucks and Ted Talks
- Connected Car Interface – Will utilize far-field microphones for audio input and output, with supplemental information displayed on cars’ head units
- Previous Collaboration– Two companies already partnered in 2016 to introduce skill that allows users to control selected vehicle features through Alexa-enabled devices, such as activating climate control, locking doors and checking fuel tanks
- Commercial Availability – Will launch commercially starting mid-2018 in U.S., U.K., and Germany, integrated in all 2018 BMW and select MINI units
