- AI Chip – Chinese search giant Baidu developed Kunlun, new fast artificial intelligence (AI) chip for cloud to edge computing, first of its kind in China
- Components – Made up of thousands of small cores, and includes AI training chip “818-300” and AI inference chip “818-100”
- High Performance – Nearly 30 times faster than Baidu’s first field-programmable gate array (FPGA) chip in 2011, has 512 gigabytes per second memory bandwidth, and capable of 260 tera operations per second, while consuming 100 watts of power
- Potential Applications – Can be used in data centers, public clouds, and autonomous vehicles, as well as artificial intelligence applications, including voice recognition, search ranking, natural language processing, and large-scale recommendations
