  • Smart Speaker – Stand-alone, Internet-connected speaker that can run tasks, such as streaming music, setting reminders, ordering products, and controlling other connected-home devices, using artificial intelligence and voice commands
  • Listen to Music – Nine in ten smart speaker owners surveyed by National Public Radio and Edison Research said listening to music top reason for buying device, with 62% also saying device plays better music than radio, and 53% saying it helps to discover songs
  • Convenience – 87% of respondents liked that smart speakers can enable asking of questions without typing, while 69% said device makes it easier to do tasks
  • Fun Gadget – 86% bought smart speaker because they thought it was a fun gadget to have, such as for entertaining children
  • News and Information – 77% purchased device to listen to news and access information
  • Key Growth Drivers – Include increasing consumer adoption of AI-enabled home devices, intensifying competition among big tech companies, improving network connectivity, and rapidly expanding artificial intelligence capabilities
