- Lack of Confidence – More (58%) online consumers in 2017 Accenture survey lacking confidence in security of their online data, compared to 55% in 2014, with those not totally confident almost doubling to 13% from just 7% in 2014
- Declining Consumer Confidence – Respondents totally confident on security of online data, regardless of website, dropped from range of 17-18% between 2014 and 2016 to 14% in 2017
- Key Drivers – Include proliferating and increasing sophistication of cybersecurity threats, greater demand for online security among consumers, and rise in government regulation punishing companies for mishandling consumer data
