  • ICARUS Drone – MIT alumni-founded company MORSE Corp. in collaboration with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) developed disappearing drone called ICARUS (Inbound Controlled Air Releasable Unrecoverable Systems) for military applications
  • Self-Disintegrating – Made of special polymers that disintegrate when exposed to heat or sunlight, turning to liquid and leaving behind only guidance system and payload
  • Applications – Could deliver antivenin, used to boost immune system against poisons, blood supply, and other items without detection
  • Commissioned by Defense Department – U.S. Department of Defense requested MORSE Corp. in 2016 to develop single-use drone that can fly almost 100 miles and land within 30 feet of target
