  • Open Innovation Challenge – Manchester’s City Verve announced Open Innovation Challenge, contest for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to develop Internet-of-Things (IoT) smart city solutions for city of Manchester
  • Categories – Include healthcare, transport, and energy, as well as wild card category that will cover IoT smart city solutions that do not fit in any of three main categories
  • Incentives – Include £5,000 grant, as well as access to Cisco’s global sales channels, product development and business classes from Manchester Science Partnership and Growth Studio, and investors
  • Test Bed – Startups will also get to test their IoT solutions in real life environment
  • Timeline – Application ends February 2018, after which selected startups will be announced March 2018; challenge will then commence over eight-week period from March to May 2018
