- Laser-Powered 3D Printer – Announced development of massive 3D printer under GE Additive business that can print components by fusing nine layers of metal powder using laser beams
- Potential Applications – Can be used to print aviation parts for jet engine and single-aisle aircrafts, as well as components for automotive, utility, and energy industries
- Prototype Printer – Prototype version, called ATLAS, will be able to 3D print parts up to one meter long in two dimensions from titanium, aluminum and other metals
- Next Steps – Currently improving model to enable third dimension, with beta version expected to be available by end 2017 and production version by 2018
