- Mobile-first index – Google has started rolling out new search engine index, which ranks pages based on mobile versions of websites and prioritizes mobile-friendly sites, though implementation still months away
- Important details – Will continue to crawl page if website is desktop only, however, in case of both mobile and desktop sites, search engine will primarily consume content from mobile site so web owners need to focus on putting relevant content on mobile to maintain web ranking
- Minimal change to rankings – Google executives Gary Illyes and Paul Haahr say overall rankings will not change too much and effect will not be detected but this is yet to be seen
