- Controlling Robots in Virtual Reality – Brown University researchers created software that links robot arms, grippers, sensors, and cameras to commercial virtual reality hardware through Internet, enabling remote robot control
- Conducting Remote or High-Risk Physical Tasks – Can be used in completing dangerous and high-risk physical tasks, such as bomb diffusion and visiting contaminated facilities, as well as operating equipment from remote location
- Initial Experimentation – Used software to connect Baxter robot to HTC vive, where users saw robot’s environment and manipulated its movements to accomplish simple tasks
