  • Proposed New Requirement – U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration proposed new rules requiring car manufacturers to adopt vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) connectivity systems within five years
  • Vehicle-to-Vehicle Systems – Use short distance radio to allow cars to communicate regarding speed, location, direction, acceleration and braking within radius of 300 meters
  • Vehicle-to-Infrastructure Technology – Also plans to propose guidance for vehicle-to-infrastructure technology that lets cars receive warnings from objects such as stoplights or barriers on curves
  • Road Safety – Both technologies could reduce 80% of crashes not involving driver impairment
