  • HUD 3.0 – U.S. Army will test augmented reality helmet-mounted display, called HUD 3.0, which superimposes digital data, such as soldier and enemy locations, on user’s field of view in 2019
  • Industry Partner – Military currently working with unnamed industry partner to develop HUD 3.0
  • Used for Training – Can be used for training as HUD 3.0 will be able to display digital terrains, obstacles, and enemies in field of vision for more complex and challenging training scenarios
  • Testing HUD 1.0 – Army will finish testing HUD 1.0, also known as ENVG-B (Enhanced Night Vision Goggles - Binocular), which can enhance visibility at night and overlays tactical information on real world view, in October 2018
  • Next Steps – Make HUD 3.0 lighter, more compact, rugged, and easier to use, with ability to control level of data detail for different military users
