- Guinness World Records – University of Maine Advanced Structures and Composites Center awarded with three Guinness World Records for achievements in 3D printing on October 10, 2019
- Largest 3D Printed Boat – 25-foot, 5,000-pound boat called 3Dirigo printed using plastic and wood cellulose in 72 hours recognized as both largest 3D printed boat and 3D printed object
- Biggest Polymer 3D Printer – Third world record given for largest 3D printer that can create objects 100 feet long, 22 feet wide and 10 feet high, at rate of 500 pounds per hour, useful for prototyping for civilian, defense and infrastructure
- Sustainable Materials Partnership – Also working with Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) to create bio-based recyclable materials such as wood-filled plastics that could rival traditional materials like metal for 3D printing large structures
- Other 3D Printing Efforts – Collaborating with U.S. Army for 3D printing shelters for soldiers and girder for bridge to be constructed at Hampden, Maine in 2020, as well as boatbuilders in state for innovating on sustainable more cost-effective 3D printed boats
