- Advanced Materials Research Hub – Construction began on U.K.'s Henry Royce Institute, £105 million ($145 million), 46 meters high, government-funded building in Manchester, which aims to be hub for researching and commercializing advanced materials technologies
- Facilities – Will house state-of-the-art equipment and provide collaborative space for industrial engagement between academics and industry players
- Research Focus – Includes biomedical, nuclear, and 2D materials, as well as materials systems for demanding environments, such as in energy, transport, and other sectors
- Construction Team – International architecture firm, NBBJ, working with engineering firms Ramboll and Arup, plus main contractor Laing O’Rourke to complete construction by 2020
