Briefing

  • First Full-Body Imaging Scanner – University of California, Davis scientists produced first scan using world’s first full-body medical imaging scanner that can capture 3D pictures of entire body in single scan
  • PET and CT Scan – Combines medical imaging technologies positron emission tomography (PET) and x-ray computed tomography (CT) scanner, both of which enable doctors to see inside body
  • Applications – Include diagnostics, tracking progression of disease, and research on new drug therapies
  • Features – Scans up to 40 times faster than current PET scans, with 40 times less radiation, and can produce diagnostic scans of whole body in 20-30 seconds
  • Partnership – Built in partnership with United Imaging Healthcare (UIH) in Shanghai, which plans to develop commercial version for broader market
  • 2019 Research – Will install and deliver first system at EXPLORER Imaging Center in Sacramento, California in U.S., where researchers can begin study and imaging of patients by June 2019
