  • FAME-II – India’s Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved FAME-II, scheme that will promote and advance electric and hybrid vehicles in country, in February 2019
  • Incentives – Government to provide subsidies worth INR 100 billion ($1.4 billion) starting April 1, 2019 for purchase of electric vehicles using lithium-ion and other new technologies up to 2022
  • Public and Private Transport – Scheme will support public and shared transport electrification, especially for three to four wheeler vehicles, and private vehicles for two wheeler segment
  • Supported Vehicles – Include 10 million two-wheelers, five million three-wheelers, 55,000 four-wheelers and 7,000 buses
  • Charging Infrastructure – Will deploy 2,700 charging stations across metros and cities as well as highways connecting cities with interval of 25 kilometers
