  • Digital Identity Blockchain – United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and United Nations Office of Information and Communications Technology (UN-OICT) partnered with World Identity Network (WIN) to pioneer blockchain solution for establishing and recording identity of children in fight against child trafficking
  • Blockchain for Humanity – Part of larger effort under “Blockchain for Humanity” announced during Humanitarian Blockchain Summit in New York on November 10, 2017
  • Child Trafficking Crisis – Almost half of children around world under five years of age do not have birth certificates, making them vulnerable to child traffickers who use fake identification documents to move children from one country to another
  • Other Potential Partners – Will collaborate with private companies, non-government organizations (NGOs), educational institutions, and other stakeholders interested in project
  • Global Challenge – Launching Global Challenge which will seek ideas how to use blockchain for humanitarian efforts, as well as address privacy concerns and frameworks needed for digital identification
