  • Unmanned Aircraft System – New York City Police Department (NYPD) unveiled Unmanned Aircraft System, newly-acquired DJI drones to be operated by a team of licensed officers of the Technical Assistance Response Unit that can provide tactical support to all bureaus within the police department
  • Drone Fleet – Include 11 DJI Mavic Pro Quadcopters for quick deployment during tactical operations, 2 DJI M210 RTK Quadcopters with 30x zoom camera and thermal imaging functionalities for 3D mapping, as well as search and rescue operations, and 1 DJI Inspire 1 Quadcopter for training and testing programs
  • Functions – Acceptable drone deployment uses include search and rescue, crime scene documentation, evidence search at large or inaccessible areas, hazardous materials incidents, traffic and pedistrian monitoring during large-scale events, and hostage and barricaded situations
  • Prohibited Uses – Cannot be deployed for routine patrol, traffic enforcement, immobilizing suspects, search without warrant, and weaponized missions
